It was the fatal entanglement for me. This movie is really about how good machine learning has become. I have sources confirming that this movie script was created by feeding an AI with a bunch of stalker thrillers script and then the AI found the common pattern. This is the reason this movie is so predictable. If the script was written by humans, there would have been some sort of organic twist. Skynet is real. Resist. Everyone talking about the same storyline, blah blah. Y'all gonna still watch it tho... 😂. Just saw it yesterday and I gotta say it was enjoyable from start to finish! Was it perfect no but was it worth watching oh absolutely,and Nia Long OMG. 😍😍😍. Disappointing. This storyline has been overdone already.

Im a fan of both Nia Long and Omar Epps and it was good to see them, however this movie was disappointing. I was expecting more. The film felt rushed and poorly acted which surprised me. This movie was put together poorly to have such talented actors involved. Like come on. I was wondering 🤔 did David run her husband over remember when the husband said somebody ran him over when they was golfing 🙄.

This movie isn't horrible, but it's basic and predictable. If you've seen any stalker/affair movie, you've already seen this movie. If it wasn't for Nia and Omar, I probably would have turned it off about 15min in as soon as the pattern started unfolding. They keep saying he was such a good looking guy, so why didn't they get a good looking guy for this episode? He looked like a dweeb. I've just watched it and it was awesome. Why did they do that girl's boyfriend like that? They did that boy dirty. 🤦🏽‍♀️. Girl I know that hat. I own that hat. Fatal Affair is about a women Named Ellie (Nia Long) trying to repair her marriage to her husband Marcus (Stephan Bishop) but when her daughter comes home from college and she bumps into her old friend David (Omar Epps) things turn bad for Ellie as Marcus becomes slightly too interested in her. Fatal Affair had it's great moments, largely the final act, but too often fell into the mediocre category for most parts of the film, let's talk about this more in detail.
Firstly, the cinematography and use of sound to create a building of tension was good. The cinematography and the scenery of the film was great, I also enjoyed the use of lighting in order to set the mood and tone for that particular tone, mood and scene. The uses of Red and Blue in particular caught my eye. The use of sound was also great in order to build tension, I loved the uses of telephones ringing or the sound of knifes on chopping board in order to create a good building of tension with the characters due to the threat of David. In general the building of tension was also very good, with the seriousness of David's actions getting worse and worse as the movie went on.
However, my first few negatives would be the film had a bad meeting for the two main characters, had lazy character background and rushed pacing. I thought how they set up the meeting between David was lazy and uninspired. Having him just appear at one of her meetings was quite a boring and lazy set up for the main part of the plot for me, and they could of thought of more fun or disturbing ways for this meeting to happen. I also thought the films attempt at character background was sadly mediocre and not well fleshed out either. The characters had to practically say there whole life story and what has happened to them, instead of the film actually showing us, it would have had more impact and made us understand the characters more if they had shown what the characters were like in the past instead of just telling us. I also found the film to have very rushed pacing, the film tried to get through so much plot and different scenes at such a quick pace, that I often found myself incapable of taking some scenes in or connecting with the characters as well as what I was supposed to so it would of either of been nice for the film to be slightly longer or just cut some scenes out to focus more on the characters.
My next few positives would be the connection between the characters, the good villain and also his development. I thought that the chemistry between the relationships within the film were very good and believable, the connection that Ellie and Marcus had felt natural and organic to watch, but the brief chemistry between David and Ellie was also great to add that twist of the "affair. I thought David as the villain was great, he got slowly and slowly creepier and more terrifying as the film went on and the performance from Omar Epps was excellent in terms of further enhancing the unhinged and disturbing qualities to his character. I also liked the development to David as the villain, the fact that you found out that Ellie looked exactly like his ex wife made you oddly understand his character and why he became so attached to her, obviously despite it being very wrong they added enough details about his dark past that made you realise why he was acting in the way he was.
My final few negatives would be the unlikeable main character, odd creative choices, misleading title of the film and lazy script in parts. I personally thought that for a large portion of the movie, largely the first half, the main character of Ellie was a dislikeable character, the way she handled her relationship with David despite being married always felt a bit off to me especially because she was married, and I thought it was an odd creative choice to have her instantly in a unhappy marriage despite her husband Marcus being a good guy, this took away a lot of the impact of her going off with David and lacked thought within the script. The script itself was also fairly lazy in parts, relying on overexplaining for a lot of the characters instead of showing, but also trying to cram to much in, like I said before making it seem to rushed. I also thought that the title of Fatal Affair is incredibly misleading and not entirely true for the movie, the movie firstly needed more time to develop the relationship between Ellie and David both in the present and in their pasts. Just having them meet as friends and then it go slightly too far at a club doesn't count as an affair because she said no to his advances so the whole point and threat of the villain lost it's impact slightly because it was never really what it says on the tin.
My final couple of positives would be the performances and final act. As I have previously mentioned the performance from Omar Epps was very good and he played this twisted kind of villain very well, I also have to say the performances from Nia Long and Stephan Bishop was excellent especially in the final act, when they showed their fear and panic so much that you connected and empathised with their characters. I also have to say the final act definitely saved the movie. It got slowly more and more tense, to the point that I didn't know whether everyone was going to make it out alive so it's a shame this kind of craft and tension couldn't be achieved throughout, but the ending was worth it.
Overall fatal affair is held together by it's performances, building of tension and villain. But too often falls into mediocrity with it's script and character work that leads to an inconsistently entertaining thriller.

Agree this movie was awful. I agree with Omar Epps. Joe's record is such a good song. My fav too. Lmao. This genre of film could be more successful if it was taken seriously. These types of relationships do in fact happen but when they become too melodramatic and predictable, no one cares. The movie was wack lol... That was a low budget Netflix movie. These black actors are A+ in the Urban community... They did them wrong lol.

That movie predictable within the 1st 5 minutes. I literally have been waiting for someone to talk about the movie lol 😂. Could have done without the ridiculous cheesy music. Cant wait to see this. This is going to be a really good movie. Amazing vibes. The way they had that Joe record in the back playing I swear Jordan Peele got something to do with it 😂 but that record is my song til this day Im just saying 😂. It's very sad the cops couldn't have figured this simple crime out they were allowed twenty yrs of prime life when they should have been sitting in a small cell,what a pity.
